2nd Annual Backpacking Trip

June 26-28 will be our 2nd Annual Backpacking Trip. 

We will be meeting at the church at 6:30 am on Thursday June 26th. 

 

Scouts will be responsible for all of their meals, including cooking them. 

Food needs to be light weight (dehydrated food works best).  Thursday and Saturday’s lunch will be on the trail, I recommend trail mix, energy bars, beef jerky, granola bars, etc.  Go to the following link for more ideas and information http://www.wildbackpacker.com/backpacking-food/articles/

It is important that each scout has the right gear to make this trip a successful one.  It is not necessary to go out and buy the gear they do not have.  If your scout does not have an item on the gear checklist please contract Derek Mayfield or myself and we will make sure you are covered.

May 7th - Court of Honor Preparation -  Meet at the church at 7:00 pm.
May 10th - Combined Activity - Race for the Cure - Departure time TBA.
May 14th - Court of Honor - 7:30 pm at the church. Scouts should arrive at 6:30 pm in Class A uniform.
May 21st - No scouts

Here are the important dates and deadlines for Scout Camp.

May 7th - Parents and Scouts Meeting -  6:00 pm in the Young Women's Room
Aug 1st - Physicals need to be completed and turned into Brother Mayfield
July 26th - Camp Fees are due, please complete a donation slip and give to a member of the Bishopric and notify Brother Winter of your payment.
Aug 11th - Leave the Church at 4:30 am to Scout Camp (Pray for no flat tires!!)

2014 Klondike Derby

Troop 443 is #1

The scouts participated in the Snow Horse District Klondike Derby and endured below 0 temperatures in almost two feet of snow!  

Our troop took 1st Place in their age division in the annual District Klondike Sled Race and took 2nd Place overall (their only loss was to a group of 17 year-old scouts).  

For their victory the troop took home a new Teflon coated skillet which is now know only as the "Bacon Thing".
